Don’t dredge in the “Sea of Forgetfulness”

Too many Christians are like Samson. They remain in some type of disobedience, or in this context, speak harmful or negative words. Yet, they continue preaching, singing on the platform, and laying hands upon people in the altars under an anointing…until one day they wake up — just like Samson did — not knowing the Spirit of the Lord has departed from them (Judg. 16:20).

My sin, and yes, it was a sin, was the same sin that millions of believers are participating in; some ignorantly and others willingly. This sin, in my opinion, is the main sin on God’s sin list that His own children commit. It is the least exposed and is often guarded within our own self-made mental walls. That sin is holding unforgiveness toward another and exposing past or present weaknesses of others, for our own benefit, as if holding power over them.

Unforgiveness is not just a negative emotion, it is a spiritual transgression that not only opens a door to revoke our own forgiveness from God, but it can also unleash a tormenting spirit. The greatest danger is that this sin of unforgiveness, if not exposed or is ignored by the one committing it, is so serious, that if it is not repented of and forsaken, it can prevent a person from entering the Kingdom!

This is because God will not forgive the sins of a person if they are holding unforgiveness toward another, as it is written: “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” – Matthew 6:14-15 (NKJV) Another dangerous part of this dangerous matrix is when a believer verbally discusses or willfully exposes the past transgressions of another believer that has been forgiven by the blood of Christ.

Using conversation as bait, the gossiper begins fishing up the past transgressions of a forgiven person, pulling up what God has dumped into the “Sea of Forgetfulness.” They begin dragging from the bottom of this sea, old images and dead memories of previous sins that God Himself covered in the depths of His mercy.

You will discover in this message, the spiritual danger of fishing up harmful information that is covered by Christ’s blood. You will also learn the spiritual principle of being judged by the same judgment by which you are judging others.

Remember this: whatever you fish up from someone’s Sea of Forgetfulness you will eventually have to eat. This revelation from God’s Word has changed my thinking, conversation, and perception of others. Hopefully, your own transformation awaits you, and this teaching will prevent you from literally becoming weak, sick, and endangering your spiritual life because you are devouring what you should be burying.

As Paul warned the church at Corinth: “For this cause, many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” – 1 Corinthians 11:30-31. What God forgives and throughs into the sea of un forgiveness. We dare not dredge up what the Lord has forgiven for this may derail The person in His walk with Christ because it might awaken feelings of guilt and unrighteousness of the forgiveness of that persons sin. God knows what He is doing.
