Living for God’s glory produces a spirit of humble confidence that God will act. Such confidence marked the Old Testament heroes of the faith and marks men and women of faith in every age. Those whose hearts are set on self-glory rather than on God’s can never have any confidence that their heartdesire will be granted. On the other hand, those who see their chief end as bringing glory to God know that they will never be disappointed.
