This scripture says that we do not know the best things to pray for, neither do we know how best to pray for ourselves and pray through our problems, infirmities, difficulties, afflictions, pains, disabilities, and illnesses. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit is available to help us. But how does He help us in prayer? He helps us by giving us deep burdens that we can’t explain. He also helps us by inspiring us with prayer words that we utter during prayers. The Holy Spirit does not do the praying for us. He helps us in the process of what we should be praying.
We are the ones to start (and do) the praying. But He helps us as we yield to Him. And how do we yield to the Holy Spirit in prayer so He can help us? Among the other ways a theologian may give, I know one way that never fails: When we pray God’s words, we yield to the Holy Spirit and let Him pray through us.
Here’s how it works: we start our prayers by reading out scriptures out loud and begin to declare those scriptures. In the process, the Holy Spirit inspires our thoughts and words and causes us to pray in powerful utterances that we never planned. When we’re done, there’s assurance in our hearts that our prayers are answered. Praying God’s Words back to Him is a powerful prayer strategy that keeps our prayers in His will.
